This photo shows the creation of a sign for the light pole. The image is cut from the sheet and placed face down on a piece of painted cardboard. The back side is just barely wetted and in a few seconds, the image will transfer to the cardboard. Hopefully, the photo shows that only a very slight amount of moisture is needed for the process to work. Too much water and the image will not stick to the cardboard. The damp brush is just touched to the image and the water creeps across it.

The next photo shows the paper being peeled away and the image cleanly on the cardboard. Once the paper is pulled away, the image can be dabbed with a little moisture to make it snug down if necessary.

The cardboard is much larger than the sign will end up. It's easier to add the image to a large piece and then trim it to size, rather than cutting a small sign and trying the get the image to register correctly on it.

This photo shows some details. The light has been painted and attached to the pole. The bracket is a laser cut piece from the light fixture in our Southern France kit. The post office sign has been attached and weathered. The well has been weathered more and the water is simulated with a piece of stretched fibre optic.

In part two, some more photos of the finished piece and more about the composition and story being depicted.
