This article will attempt to chronicle a fairly quick little project, while sharing a few techniques. The vignette was actually inspired by coming across a piece of scrap plexiglas that seemed to have potential as a base. I thought I could make some kind of a scene with it but I really wasn't set on an idea until the work was fairly far along. The well and wall fit together nicely but I needed some other element on the right of the base. I considered a table and chair and then decided upon some sort of a figure. Without a clear idea of how it would end up, I started work on the project. The first addition came as soon as I set the well against the wall. There needed to be a vertical element and I almost added a tree behind the wall. The light pole was the next choice and making it work, was the next decision. The photo will show the components I gathered to create the scene.

The wall piece is from our "Sunken Road" kit, the well is our "Small Well" and the wood plaque came from the craft store. The small cobblestones are squares of strathmore art paper. I like working with this paper because of it's ability to take paint and still have some strength.

I had room behind the wall for some kind of battery and had planned to install one "AAA" battery to power the grain of wheat bulb. I went to the electronics store to buy a cradle for the battery and discovered that the "AAA" battery is 1.5v and it wasn't the only choice for the light source. The smaller battery pictured, is the same power and it uses a smaller cradle. I think that even some watch batteries will work in this setup but I was satisfied with this inexpensive battery. I purchased the smaller battery, the cradle and a small toggle switch. Not a lot of money or effort spent on the "electronics" of the project. I already had the grain of wheat bulb from a model train store. I also had the part that would make up the shade for the lamp.

The easy Glue Eyes are from the craft store and I have several sizes. I have gotten used to using them for a variety of applications over the years.

The photo shows the composition of the scene with the cobblestones in place. They were glued with white glue (PVA) and this part didn't take too long. The wall and well are glued with super glue.
