In the second part of the article, we can spend a little more time concentrating on the finishing details of the scene. Of course, the fun part for me is the painting of the various elements and hopefully, the photos will show the the finished scene to good advantage.

The Jeep in the first photo has been weathered some and the decals have been applied. I used the kit decals and they were no problem as far as having an "edge" or not laying flat. I did brush some "Mop and Glo" (liquid floor wax) onto the hood of the Jeep before and immediately after I applied the decal and it sort of sealed it and made the edges disappear.

The seats and tires are not painted yet and it's even sitting on another base. I like to paint tires with Polly Scale grimy black because it looks like sun bleached rubber to me.

The Allied star on the hood is set further back than is commonly seen in photos but the placement is copied from a photo and I thought it made an interesting contrast to the position of the painted star on the windshield cover.

The second photo shows the windshield cover added and the driver with his modifications.
The tires and seats are also now painted.

The third photo shows the driver almost ready for painting.
The lighting isn't the best in this photo and this project was plaqued with a lot of poorly lit photography!
I rubbed some graphite on the edges of the sides, the shovel and the grab handles. I also eliminated the side mirror as a lot of photos I have show this part missing. I can only assume it was just as easy to look over your shoulder to identify what kind of plane was coming in behind you.

The fourth photo shows the Jeep outside in bright sunlight.
It shows the weathering to good advantage but it suffers from very stark shadows...like you get in bright sunlight.
