Here are some photos of the wall graphics being applied and finished. They are what identifies the location of the vignette and are an important part of telling the story. The few words tell the viewer a lot of information about the context of the scene.

The water transfer images are fairly easy to work with but they do require the right amount of moisture to transfer cleanly. The first photo shows the clean colors of the hotel sign as the paper backing is slowly lifted off.

The second photo shows the paper backing wetted with a minimal amount of water from a brush. As the image sits in this state, you can apply a little pressure with your finger to help it adhere to the wall. Don't rub it, just push down.

The third photo shows the wall with the images applied and some color washes to age the whole surface. Notice the small "OFF LIMITS" signs.

The fourth photo shows the wall with some white paint applied over the Mussolini graphics. This was a little bit of a challenge as I needed it to look like someone in 1/35th scale, took a large brush and hurriedly ran it across the wall.
The street and sidewalk pavers have paint on them and the grout is ground up pastels, mixed into a "slurry" with water and isopropal alcohol. The mix was washed over the stones and settled into the recesses.
